 Personality

The Rooster is the strutting peacock of the Chinese Zodiac. These quick thinkers are also practical and resourceful, preferring to stick to what is tried and tested. They are also keenly observant. It's unlikely anything will get past Roosters, since they seem to have eyes in the back of their head. This quality often leads others to think the Rooster is psychic. The Rooster would prefer to be known as straightforward, one who will reward honesty in kind.

They enjoy being in the spotlight, entertaining friends and meeting new people, and they can be charming company even in the most unexpected circumstances. It is rare to see they looking dowdy or untidy - in fact, they are usually one of the best dressed and groomed of all the animal signs. They take an active interest in clothes, colours, designs and accessories, and can be just as critical about their own appearance as they are about that of others. They like to keep the conversation flowing and are unlikely to initiate in depth discussion, but this light-hearted front hides a good intellect. Others may criticize they for being an exhibitionist - and no doubt there are times when they would agree with this - but there is also a compassionate, wise and brave side to their nature, which comes to the fore when others need their help.

Roosters aren't devious or cagey and have no interest in hiding behind a facade. They are quite open, telling the truth and keeping their word. In their world, if they show their hand, people will respect that. This kind of trusting behaviour can tempt tricksters to pull a fast one on the Rooster, which would not be a good move. Remember, this bird doesn't indulge in flights of fancy and keeps those eyes wide open at all times.

These determined birds tend to be perfectionists and like to be in control, especially over their appearance. Preening and posing for the Rooster can go on forever. Being noticed and admired is an aphrodisiac for Roosters, and they can go a long time on a few kind words. Roosters also adore going out on the town, especially if they're in the company of adoring friends. No quiet dinners at home for the Rooster -- the real fun is in dancing till dawn with a gaggle of friends. The Rooster will also be the best dressed in the group. Style counts with this bird, regardless of cost.

Looking good may have its price, but at the end of the day, Roosters love a good bargain, something which appeals to their basic conservatism. The opposite side of this is the Rooster's willingness to think big and daydream where affairs of the heart are concerned. Roosters are great at creating a fantasy, only to have reality come and ruin it all. In the right relationship, however, the Rooster is one of the most loyal and trustworthy mates around, going out of their way to please their partner.

They have a strong independent spirit, which makes it hard for they to accept advice. They are confident in their own judgments and choices, and prefer to follow their own routine. They can also be straightforward to the point of hurting others, and when something needs to be said they go ahead and say it. This directness stems from naivety, not from vindictiveness, since they believe that honesty is the best policy. There are times, however, when it might be better not to express their opinions in order to keep the peace.

Roosters need to learn to value their heart and soul as much as their good looks. Their excellent social skills and sharp minds are qualities which others will appreciate as much as a pretty face.

The most compatible match for a rooster is the ox or snake.

 Career

Roosters think clearly and logically but do not like to be put under pressure or pushed to make a decision. If they are allowed to work at a steady pace they are more than capable of achieving a good career. As long as they have the time to think and the freedom to use their imagination, they produce sensible but creative ideas.

If other people govern the Rooster's work there is a danger that they will feel trapped, which causes they to become over-critical. They are suited to self-employment and it could be here that their skills are fully recognized and their perseverance rewarded. After working hard to achieve financial security, do not be tempted to spend their earnings quickly or carelessly; this is one of their weak spots, but they can learn to handle their spending with the same steady approach they apply to work.

They are suited to a career in public relations, commercial sales, or politics. They would also be a good author, entertainer, beautician or member of the armed forces.

 Relationship

There are likely to be many romantic opportunities in their life since they enjoy courtship and are a charming companion. With their love of good clothes, surroundings and company, they know how to create a romantic atmosphere to suit the moment.

They take pride in their appearance, and if the situation demands, they know how to impress with intelligent conversation.

There is a danger that the thrill of romance comes from the conquest, and when a partner's actions or responses become predictable, restlessness takes hold and they set off again in search of a new relationship. their independent nature keeps they on the move, but they also have a jealous streak which they try to keep hidden. In the whirl of romance it is the female rather than the male rooster who usually keeps an eye on practicalities. In the long run they are a reliable partner, and their roaming will cease when they meet someone they do not want to lose. They are capable of deep commitment, and in the right relationship are a dedicated and responsible partner.
